Happiness
(Improperly formerly titled as Just To Be Tender)

Just to be tender, just to be true
Just to be glad, the whole day thru
Just to be merciful, just to be mild
           trustful as a child
                       gentle and kind and sweet
                     helpful with willing feet
                           cheery when things go wrong
                              drive sadness away with a song
Whether the hour is dark or bright
Just to be loyal to God and right.

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO CRAIG DeGOOSH for allowing this wonderful poem to maintain its home here on my site.  I'd like to share with you the email that I received from Craig when he found his grandmother's poem on my site. "I thought you might be interested to know a little history of the poem you have titled Just To Be Tender.  My dad's mother wrote a poem very similar to that many years ago.  The similarities are uncanny.   Her poem is titled HAPPINESS by Nettie Pushee DeGoosh (1893~1958).  She wrote many poems, but this is the one that hangs in every home of her 13 children, many grandchildren, and beyond from there. ---- Craig DeGoosh" I definately desire to give credit where credit is due.  I have changed the poem to what Craig says is the original version and am happy to give Nettie the credit she properly deserves.  If you would like, you can write to Craig at Craig DeGoosh.  Please tell him WarM FuZZieS sent you!
