First Aid thru Home Remedies!

Blue Line

This page is dedicated to those old Home Remedies that are passed down through the generations.  I do NOT verify the accuracy of the remedies given to me.  Of course I must state that I am NOT a doctor, NOR am I in the medical profession in ANY way whatsoever.  Nothing you see on this page is being offered in the way of medical advice.  I do NOT know if any of these remedies are safe for your particular condition.  Some remedies, like conditioning your hair with beer, or using jello on stinky feet are harmless if they don't work.   Others, such as herbal treatment, may not be.  Therefore I have tried to stay away from herbal type remedies in most cases.  You should CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS TO THE SAFETY OF ANY HOME REMEDY BEFORE USING FOR YOURSELF!

This page started out as a request of home remedies that had worked for me or have worked for my family in the past; but web response to this page has been phenomenal.  So this page now includes contributions from people all over the world who have emailed me or who have browsed this page and added to my list.  Therefore the I, me, etc. is not actually ME but the person who wrote the remedy tip to me. THANK YOU to everyone that has offered additional remedies for us to learn!

Please look around the rest of my site while you're here.  There's lots to explore and look at so you can leave with a nice WarM FuZZy Feeling for having been here.

ACHES -

Combine mint with melted lard or petroleum jelly.  Rub ointment on aching muscles.

Mix white dry mustard and enough tequila to make a paste.  Place the mixture in the sun, until warm, then apply to the lower back.  Cover with a warm towel.

Try a camphor and lard rubdown.

To ease the pain of swollen joints, soak pine needles overnight, strain, then add the liquid to your bath.

For sore muscles, grind an avocado pit and make a paste out of it with drinking alcohol (at least 80 proof) and rub on the aches.

ACNE -

Got a pimple you need gone by the weekend for your big date?  Try using a little toothpaste on it when you go to bed.  It won't heal over night, but it helps draw it to a head, so it will heal quicker.

Visine

Liquid Witchhazel

To cure acne, eat two cloves of raw garlic a day, one in the morning and the other at night. Continue for a month, and the acne will be cured.  (Course my daughter said your human companionship would be cured too and the acne wouldn't matter!)

Elmer's Glue -- paint on your face, allow it to dry, peel off and see the dead skin and blackheads.

ANTISEPTIC -                                                                                                                       lemon

Not only is lemon a natural antioxidant, long known to prevent scurvy, it moonlights as a nontoxic bleach and disinfectant, antiseptic, stain-lifter and odor-eater.

ANXIETY -

If your nerves are on edge & you need to calm down, or if you can't get to sleep because of something on your mind, try a cup of hot tea made from chammomile and catnip (two herbs easy to grow in the garden).  (Definately check with your doctor on any herbal remedies!)

Green Tea is supposed to temper the spirit, calm and harmonize the mind, arouse thought and prevent drowsiness.

ARTHRITIS -

Mash, then strain enough gel from the aloe vera plant to make 1 teaspoon aloe vera juice.  Add liquid to a glass of orange juice or water, and drink every morning before breakfast.

For quick relief through the day, peel off the outer layer of the aloe vera leaf, then heat the gel. Apply to the affected area while still hot, as hot as you can stand it.  Carefully wrap with clean rags or gauze.

Make a paste with tequila and ash leaf and rub on the sore joints.

Arthritis? WD-40.   Spray and rub in. (???)

ASTHMA -

Inhale the vapors of steamed eucalptus leaves.

BITING/STINGING INSECTS -                                                                                      mosquito

Everyone knows they should wash the bite thoroughly with soap and water, but we rarely do. To control the inflammation and itching, try dissolving a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water.  Dip a papertowel into the solution and place on the bite.

Dip a papertowel in ammonia and rub on bite, then bactine.  Really takes the pain away quickly.

Try making a paste with salt or baking soda and a little water and applying it to the bite.

Try moistening your skin and rubbing an aspirin tablet right over the bite.

Dip the insect bite in hot salted water.

As a repellent, try mixing two capfuls of bleach in your warm bath before going out.  Soak for 15 minutes, be careful to keep solution from your eyes and ears.

To draw poison from a bee sting or spider bite, try using a raw potato on the wound.

Make a paste of Vaseline and meat tenderizer and place on the wound to draw the poison out.

Apply cooked cabbage at room temperature directly on the bee sting, then wrap with clean gauze or rags.

Apply damp bruton (?) snuff directly to the sting.  Stops pain quickly.

WD-40 Spray kills insect sting pain, too.

Chigger bite, try Preparation H.

To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area and you will experience instant relief.

BLADDER INFECTION -

Drink cranberry juice, cranberry juice, cranberry juice.

BLOOD PRESSURE -

To level your blood pressure, drink alfafa tea every morning.  PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR!

BOILS -

Boil cornmeal and spread in the center of a long strip of cloth.  Wrap it around boil while still hot.  The next day, the core of the boil can easily be removed.

I have had boils off and on for years in different places on my body.  They may be caused by a virus and/or stress.  Sometimes I won't have one for years.  Then I will get several in a year.. surgery, antibiotics, hot cloths, onion poultices, soap pastes, nothing worked well.  Finally found something that really works for me!!  I have tried it 5 different times successfully.  It's great!. . . . .Wash the boil with soap and water.  Apply hydrogen peroxide.  Let air dry.  Apply enough honey with a q-tip or gauze to cover the boil.  Repeat several times a day.  Usually will get "worse" within a day.  Then apply a very warm wet cloth on top for as long as you can manage, 5-15 minutes, will usually help the boil break enough to ooze some.  Keep applying the hydrogen peroxide and honey several times a day.  The boil will shrink and be gone in a few days.

BRONCHITIS -

Inhale the vapors of steamed eucalptus leaves.

For bronchitis and phlegm buildup, try oregano tea.

BRUISES -

Rub menthol on injuries so that they won't bruise.  It works!

Rub a mixture of aloe vera and drinking alcohol onto the bruise.  It will be gone in half of the time that it would usually take to fade.

Sore aching bones from an injury caused by a bruise - Put a bag of frozen peas on the swollen part of the body that the injury was sustained.  Then when the peas get soft put back in the freezer.  Put a label on the bag so that no one uses it for food reasons.  It works.

BUMPS -

Rub vinegar and salt on the bump.

BURNS -

Break off a piece of the lower leaf of the aloe vera plant and apply the fresh gel directly onto the burn.

A raw egg will cool a burn quickly, and will help prevent blistering and scarring.

Cover the burn with a minced raw onion, then wrap it with a clean cloth.  Not only will the onion alleviate the pain, but it will prevent the burn from blistering.

Put honey on burns it works.

Minor burn -- Use Colgate or Crest toothpaste.

Burn your tongue? Put sugar on it!

I remember my mom preparing the hot baby formula for my sister.  Remember the old fashion way you fill the glass baby bottles and place them in a large pot with water till they boil?...Well afterwards she would place them on the table till the bottles cooled down.  Well one had fallen on my leg and she quickly took a raw potato from the refrigerator, ground it to make it into a paste and I remember her saying to me this was an old remedy to remove the heat before it penetrated and burned and it worked.

Put a raw potato on a fresh burn.  It will pull the pain out,  With the potato it is excellent for children, my family has done this for years!!

Common belief now is to NEVER wrap a burn in anything, but ice bag or ice water, which keeps the burn from destroying more tissue.  After the burn is completely cooled out, then use Aloe.

CANCER -

Garlic has cancer-fighting properties.  Rather than microwaving or roasting garlic immediately, researchers suggest that cooks let chopped or crushed garlic stand at least 10 minutes.  If roasting, slice off the top third of the bulb to promote the formation of cancer-fighting compounds.

Following is an interesting claim using grape juice as an ally in the fight against cancer:

Morning, Noon and Evening Preparation --- Do not eat anything upon arising in the morning.  Start early in the morning to sip slowly a 24-oz bottle of unsweetened Concord grape juice.  Finish the bottle by 10 o'clock.  Wait until noon to eat and do not eat any pork.  Have supper as usual.
Introduced By English Doctors --- There are claims that a six week-treatment with grape juice has been known to wash cancer out of the blood.  There are also numerous claims that skin cancer will dry and "flake off" using this remedy.  If your stomach becomes queasy or loose, start the treatment from the beginning but use smaller amounts of grape juice, mixed half-and-half with water, and gradually increase your intake of the grape juice.  When your stomach adjusts, take the grape juice straight.  Continue this treatment for six weeks.
This cure is thought to have been brought to New York by English doctors and is said to have been used sucessfully to cure hopeless cancer patients.  One undocumented report states that of 100 patients sent home to die after being diagnosed as terminally ill with cancer, all subscribed to the treatment and were saved.  The total treatment can be had for under $25.  The treatment is especially recommended in the case of leukemia patients.  Six weeks of this treatment is supposed to be enough.

CHICKEN POX -

Bathe in a tub of warm water and baking soda.  After the bath, apply a paste of baking soda mixed with a little water.

CHOLESTROL -

The antioxidants in red grapes are thought to be responsible for improvment in cholesterol levels and immunity, and for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Daily garlic tablets for a few months helped lower my cholestrol.

COLD SORES -                                                                                                                        Lysine

Supplement your diet with 2,000-3,000 milligrams of the vitamen Lysine. (Check with your doctor.)

Put Lip Medic on a cold sore to stop it cold.

Apply zinc solution as soon as you feel that tingling, helps speed healing time.

Break the sore and use witch hazel or alcohol to dry it.

This always works great for me, get a Q-tip and put some finger nail polish remover on it, dab it on cold sore from the moment you notice it.  It burns a bit but that's how you can tell its working.  Continue until gone, about 3 times a day.

COLDS/FLU - Can't cure, but can shorten symptom time!

Chicken soup, it is proven now!  It's important to know that the onions, garlic, and sage are very important parts of chicken soup.  Onions and garlic are from the same family, and boost the immune system.  Sage works on the sinus congestion.   (Sometimes I think the chicken is just to make the rest of it edible.)

Sip on a cup of chamomile, lemon, and honey tea.  Add a small amount of whiskey to sweat out the impurities and rid the chest of phlegm.

Vitamen C!  500 milligrams four times a day can cut symptoms in half.

Zinc is supposed to cut colds by an average of seven days.  Although toxic in large doses, it is now available in lozenges.

Two to three oil-free garlic capsules three times a day.

Wash your feet, especially the back and side of the heel, dry thoroughly, put on clean dry white socks, keep them on all night, repeat this the next morning.  You will be surprised at the results.

When you come down with a cold, wait 2 days before taking a shower.  On the third day take a shower, then have someone give you an alcohol rubdown.  This will make you sleepy, so get under the covers and go to sleep.  The next day the cold will be gone.  (Let me know if this one works!)

CONSTIPATION -

My son-in-law was constipated and went to the hospital.  He spent all day there and came home with enemas and pills.  No results as yet.  I told him I had a 10 cent remedy.  1 teaspoon Epsom salts.  It works.

CORNS -

Crush a raw garlic clove, then apply to the corn.  Cover with a large bandage.

Paint the corn with red nail polish, and the thickened skin will fall off.

COUGHS -

A very soothing remedy for your children's cough is to mix lavender tea with a teaspoon or two of maple syrup.  Kids love it, you may never use store-bought cough syrup again.

Slice a purple onion into thin spirals and layer.  Drizzle them with honey and place in an airtight container.  In 3 hours, you'll notice the onions have released their sweat.  Take 2 tablespoons of this liquid every few hours or as needed to ease the cough.

Julianne says this is one my mother used to give us, burns like heck, but works really well. Recipe for homemade cough syrup:  1 tlbs honey, 1 tbls vinegar, 1 tsp cayenne pepper or red pepper, and 1 cup warm water.  Stir well and sip.  Burns all the way down but cleans out your sinus and whatever else ails ya.

DEPRESSION -

Try drinking basil tea to ease your sorrow.

DIAPER RASH -

Vinegar neutralizes ammonia, thus changing the ph on the skin and helping with diaper rash.

DIARRHEA -

Use the BRAT Diet: bananas, rice, applesauce and toast.  All these foods are supposed to have medicinal properties.  Applesauce and bananas contain soluble fiber, which helps firm up stools. Bananas are also rich in potassium, which is often depleted.  Toast and rice are bland, soothing, and binding.

Activated charcoal from a health food store is supposed to relieve pain and gas and absorb the toxins that cause diarrhea.

Treat with alternating hot and cold compresses on the chest, abdomen and back.   Place a hot towel over your chest and abdomen.  Wrap a sheet and blanket around you leaving only your head exposed.   Rest three or four minutes with no fever, (one minute if you do have a fever). Replace hot towel, wrap again for approximately 30 seconds.  Now remove hot towel and place a damp cold towel (cooled in the refrigerator) over the same area.  Wrap yourself up again for 10 minutes.   Roll over and repeat process from the top of your shoulders to your waist.  Many people say they experience relief within a few hours.

DROWSINESS -

Try drinking green tea to prevent drowsiness.

EAR ACHES -

Put a few drops of warm (not hot!) baby oil, almond oil, sweet oil or cayenne oil in the painful ear, then tuck cotton in the ear.

Crushed garlic with olive oil, place oil on cotton ball and place in ear; alleviates ear infection.

Hold your hairdryer on the low, warm setting about two feet from your ear and aim the air into the offending ear.

WARNING:  People have submitted to have a smoker blow cigerette smoke into the ailing ear.  I received this email regarding this particular remedy.  "Hi, my name is Mike DeBenedetti.  I have an uncle that is deaf (partly) in one ear because of the blowing of the cigarette smoke.  I would appreciate it if you took down that remedy so nobody else would have to go through a life style being partially deaf.  Thank you."  I did initially take this remedy off the page but people continued to submit it as an ear ache remedy.  I am therefore posting this WARNING AGAINST using this particular procedure.

ENERGY -

Place a small amount of sugar under your tongue and left it dissolve for a quick pick-me-up.

Soak a handful of pine needles overnight, strain, then add the liquid to your bath.  This gives you the stamina you need to get through your day.

Take a cold friction bath for extra energy and zest.  Immerse your whole body in the cold water quickly.  Rub all parts of your body under water vigorously with both hands.  Get out of the bath the moment you start to feel chilly.  Rub yourself briskly with a coarse towel.  When dry, switch to another dry towel and rub briskly for another two minutes.  Take twice a week for maximum effect.

EYES -                                                                                                                                  eyes

To refresh tired or puffy eyes, place used tea bags in the refrigerator for fifteen minutes.  Place on closed eyes for a few minutes.

To diminish bags under eyes, cut cold cucumber slices and place over eyelids for a few minutes.

A couple of drops of milk in your eye will remove dirt and sand and sooth your eye.

For gunky eyes, make a cup of camomile tea and let it cool. With a cotton ball, gently clean the eyes.  Drop a couple of drops into the eye.  Works great!

Puffy eyelids, try Preparation H. (DEFINATELY AVOID EYES IF YOU TRY THIS ONE!!!)

I strongly suggest you talk to an eye doctor before putting anything besides approved eye drops INTO your eyes.

FEET -

For Athletes feet use cornstarch.

For stinky feet, try jello.  Now they didn't say powdered jello, liquid jello, or jiggly jello.  So your guess is as good as mine.

FEVER -

For a fever....Put Vicks-Vap-O-Rub on the bottom of the persons feet, put socks on, and within the hour, the fever is gone.  I raised my 4 girls on this method and it works.  But if fever isn't broke within an hour, take person to doctor, this could be a sign of severe infection.

GAS -

A teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water will relieve the pain of gas.

Drink a cup of water, as hot as you can stand it, with the juice from half of a lemon.

Drink basil leaf tea.

GUM -                                                                                                                                  gum

I tried getting gum out of my little girl's hair with peanut butter, and it works just fine.  Another way to get the gum out is to put ice on the gum...when the gum freezes hard, it can be "broken" out of the hair.  Then use peanut butter to get the rest out.  I did it this way, as my daughter's hair was very long, and I couldn't stand the thought of cutting it.  Worked really well.

HAIR -

To speed hair growth, mash the fruit of an avocado and apply the paste to your scalp.  Leave on overnight, then wash as usual.

Many people say beer makes a great hair conditioner.  Riki says, "My mom spent a couple of summers in France as a college student.  She says it makes hair very silky."

Cool whip will condition your hair in 15 minutes.

Shiny Hair - rinse in brewed Lipton Tea.

Heavy dandruff - rinse scalp with vinegar.

HEADACHE -

Headaches from fatigue or tension can be helped by a hot, wet towel which relaxes painful scalp muscles and speeds circulation through congested vessels.

Throbbing headaches usually stem from engorged blood vessels.  Strong coffee helps to shrink those vessels.

Ice also helps to shrink engorged blood vessels.

If you cut a potato in half and rub it on your forehead, it helps get rid of headaches!

Peppermint: 5 grams of fresh peppermint is boiled in 1 cup of water with a pinch of salt.  When drunk, this is believed to relieve headaches, as well as any other types of pain affecting the head and neck.

Cure for headaches: take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead.  The throbbing will go away.

HEARTBURN -

D. Webster says, "Suffering with heartburn and morning sickness during my pregnancy, and then with G.E.R.D. for years before being diagnosed, I came across something that seemed to help every time, Cool Ranch Doritoes.  My guess is they absorb the stomach acid.  All I know is the heartburn or indigestion goes away, and stays away.  About a handful will do."

HICCUPS -

Peanut Butter is a sure fire cure!  Swallow a tablespoon of it and it prevents the esophagus from contracting.

Instead of holding your breath, try blowing it out in a slow, steady stream.

Swallow a teaspoon of dry sugar.

Bend over and drink a glass of water from the opposite side of the glass.

Slowly swallow 3 sips of water, while NOT breathing.

Drink vinegar.  (Kids like to substitute pickle juice.)

Pour sugar on half a lemon or lime and squeeze into your mouth.

Lisa found a great cure for hiccups is to have somebody hold your ears closed (though she's not sure if this is actually of importance), and drink a full glass of water (a big glass, like 12 or 16 oz.) straight through without stopping.  You will let out a big burp afterwards, but the hiccups should then be gone!

Jim agrees.  Tough to do but can be done.  Drink a glass of water while at the same time you must plug your nose and ears as you drink the water.  Have a friend help you if holding the glass proves to be difficult.  Works every time.

INFECTIONS -

Boil cornmeal and spread in the center of a long strip of cloth.  Wrap over infection while still hot.  The next day, the swelling and rawness of the infection should be gone.

INGROWN TOENAIL -

Use a sterilized, pointed nail file to thoroughly clean under nail and slightly "open" the wound (this hurts a little, but you have to do it).  Wet toe with warm water.  Pour salt over wet toe to form a mound over wound (the toe should be wet enough so that the salt becomes wet and starts seeping into the wound).  There will be a slight stinging sensation - but this will go away within an hour.  Let dry to a white crust on toe.  Leave on overnight.  This nearly cures overnight!

KIDNEY STONES -

To rid the body of impurities, drink warm dandelion (leaf) tea.  This will break down kidney stones.

WARNING EMAIL FROM MY HERB WRITER: Honey..Your home remedy for kidney stone is dandilion root..that is a laxative.  I think they meant dandilion leaf which is a strong diaretic..full of potassium and all the b vitamins..

LICE -

Wash hair in vinegar, then comb out.

Mayonnaise will KILL LICE.  It will also condition your hair.

To prevent, not get rid of, head lice:
After you wash your hair and squeeze out the excess water, flip your head over and pour a few capfulls of Listerine (not the blue kind) onto your scalp.  Don't rinse it out.  Do this once a week.

NAILS -

For weak nails, rub in a dab of olive oil on the surface of your unpolished, clean nails.  Repeat daily.

To strengthen nails, rub a clove of raw garlic on the fingernails every day.

NAUSEA -

If you feel like you are going to throw up, put a pinch of baking soda on your tongue.  Drink 1/2 cup water.  You should feel better immediately.

Chew on fresh mint.

This will usually work for nausea: A tablespoon of coca cola syrup.  CC syrup can be purchased in any pharmacy.  Just ask the pharmacist if they have any.  A 4 oz. bottle usually runs about $2.00 or less.

NOSE BLEEDS -                                                                                                                    Nosebleed

A cold cloth on the bridge of the nose or forehead sometimes seems to contract the bleeding vessels and help stop them up.

Gently press the sides of your nose together between your thumb and forefinger and increase pressure.  Hold for at least five minutes before releasing to see whether bleeding still continues.

My granny taught me this 30 yrs ago and it works EVERY time...sounds crazy as can be, but it costs ZERO to try it....  For nose bleeds, rip a small piece of grocery bag (plain paper will work, but not as well--the thicker the better) about 1" by 1.5-2" long.  Fold the paper repeatedly along the long side until you have 3-5 thickness of paper.  Then place the folded paper under your top lip tight against the gum/lip line.   The nose bleed will stop within 15-30 seconds.  You can even remain vertical and the bleeding will cease.  Try it!

PAPER CUT -

Paper cut, try crazy glue or Chapstick.   Glue is used instead of sutures at some hospitals.

POISON IVY -

Don't have any calamine lotion handy, try toothpaste and let it dry.

Or try Milk of Magnesia.

Take an oatmeal bath.

If you know you've been exposed, wash your skin with rubbing alcohol and then water, before the rash has time to appear.  But don't use a rag, as that will spread the oil on your skin around.

If you know you have to mess with it, try spraying your skin with antipersirants first.

SINUS CONGESTION -

Take cooking sage and steep it in hot water with a tea infuser (or you can put some in a coffee filter, and make your own teabag).  You might want to drink with honey, because it tastes kinda like grass, but it does the trick... do it before bedtime, but only drink one cup a day... it builds up in your bloodstream.  A friend of mine used it for mouth ulcers too!

Suck on half a lime to clear your stuffy nose.

Inhale camphor steam.

For blocked sinuses warm 1 pint of water (lukewarm water only), add 1-2 teaspoons of salt and mix to disolve.  Using a tablespoon full of salty water snort it up your nostril and spit out the salt and snot (no nice way to say this).  Repeat on the other nostril.

Several years ago I suffered from intense sinus infections, causing bad sinus headaches and fever.  Since using this recipe, I haven't suffered one like this since.  3 cloves of garlic, seep in 1/4 cup of lukewarm water for 15 to 20 minutes, draw up liquid only in a dropper and lean back and place about 10 drops in each nostril.  It will sting, have plenty of kleenex ready, but relief will come and within a couple hours you'll be back to normal.

SKIN CARE -

Mash the fruit of an avocado, then apply the paste to your skin.  Leave 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.  If you do this once a week you'll notice a difference right away.

Fiberglass removal in skin - Take a used dryer sheet and rub on area where fiberglass has been lodged.  It will pull it out.

SNORING -

Someone's snoring keeping you awake nights?  Try buying an ionizing machine and putting it in the bedroom.

Try nudging them to sleep on their side instead of their back.

SORE THROAT -

For a sore throat, gargle with Dr. Tichner's if you can handle it (worse than Listerine).  Will kill all germs.

Gargle with warm salt water.  Some say add a touch of basil.

Gargle with 1 tablespoon vinegar in a glass of warm water.

Gargle TCP antiseptic in a warm water.  If you can stand the smell and taste it will kill a sore throat quicker than any fancy chemist bought sore throat cure.

SPLINTER -

Take a small piece of bacon fat and tape over a splinter.  Overnight the fat will draw the splinter out of the wound.

To get a spliner out put elmers glue on the area.  Then after it drys, pull the splinter out when you pull off the glue!

When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, then pull it off.   Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.

STOMACH, SOUR OR UPSET -

Seems to be great healing power in a glass of Coke with a straw in it when you are sick.  It sooths a sour stomach... may be the carbonation.

Try hot Dr. Pepper with lemon in the winter for this.

Other people swear by 7-Up.

Soaking in water as hot as you can stand will almost always end a stomach ache.

Another remedy for a sore stomach is to have a cup of milk, yogurt or even soft serve, the dairy soothes the stomach.  Not sure why, but it works!

SUNBURN -                                                                                                                                  sunburn

Aloe Vera plant, break open the leaf and spread the gel on your sunburn.

Put 1 cup of white vinegar into a tub of cool water and bathe.

Sprinkle baking soda in your bath and instead of drying off, let it dry on your skin.

Put oatmeal in a mesh bag and let the water run through it, remove the bag before you bathe.

My mother always slathered us with Noxzema.  It takes off the heat and also seems to moisturize.  Put it on thick, and reapply often.

I've also applied mouthwash (cheapest brand is fine), directly to the sunburned areas with a cotton ball.  It helps remove the sting temporarily.  Also a hot shower (hotter the better) will work.  I know that one sounds crazy but it truly works.

For sunburn try vinegar, or lots of strong microwave tea poured into bath.  Raspberry leaves or wild black berry leaves are very good too.  They both have lots of tannin for help in sun burn.

Empty a large jar of instant Nestea into your bath water.

TOENAIL FUNGUS -

I have found that soaking a toe nail fungus in vinegar works wonders as opposed to antifungal gels from the nail store.

Fungus on toenails or fingernails, try Vicks vapor-rub.

TOOTHACHE -

When you have an achy tooth, this can ease the pain by 50 percent - Rub an ice cube into the V-shaped area where the bones of the thumb and forefinger meet.  Gently push the ice over the area for 5 to 7 minutes.

Gargle a small amount of drinking alcohol in your mouth targeting the side where the bad tooth is.  Just hold a mouth full for a minute or two then spit.

Dab warm oil of cloves onto the cavity area with a toothpick.

Take one or two whole cloves and add them to one cup of water, microwave for one minute and rinse your mouth favoring the side with the tooth ache for 1-2 minutes.

Peppermint Schnaupps works best.  Peppermint is also an antiseptic thus making it possible to relieve some infection also.

Place several drops of vanilla extract directly on the tooth.  If nothing else, the alcohol in the extract will serve as an antiseptic to an infection.

Put a half of an asprin on the cavity (make sure mouth is dry).  Let it set there until it disolves. DO NOT CHEW!  It will not work, just set it there.

Add some lime juice to asafetida (hing) powder.  Soak a piece of cotton and hold it on the tooth and gum.

Burn some turmeric (haldi) sticks, make a fine powder and use as toothpowder.

Star fruit (carambola): This is believed to reduce fever and detoxify.  When used as a home remedy for a toothache to relieve pain, 3 star fruits are crushed to make a juice, which is then drunk twice a day.

Peppermint: 5 grams of fresh peppermint is boiled in 1 cup of water with a pinch of salt.  When drunk, this is believed to relieve toothaches, as well as any other types of pain affecting the head and neck, including headaches.

This is an old remedy handed down, take some grated fresh garlic and put it on the opposite wrist of the toothache pain.  (if your toothache is on the right side of your mouth, put the garlic on the left wrist).  Leave the garlic on your wrist for twenty minutes.  The crazy thing is that you will wake up in the morning and your tootache will be long gone!

ULCERS -

Squeeze enough gel from an aloe vera plant to make one teaspoon of aloe vera juice.  Add to to a glass of orange juice or water, and drink every morning before eating.

YEAST INFECTION -

To treat a yeast infection soak in a tub of vinegar and water.  Aids in the ph balance to kill yeast.

Try douching with acidophilis on tablespoon into vagina with bulb syringe to rid yeast infection.
